When vision is not as good as it used to be, we're forced to find other ways of doing things. Taking medications properly is a real challenge with low vision.
A new resource on the National Eye Institute website has excellent suggestions for managing your medication safely. It was developed by the NEI, the American Foundation for the Blind and the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists Foundation.
Key suggestions include:
- Marking your medicine bottles in some way that will tell you which is which.
- Use good lighting and high contrast so you won't lose the pills.
You can read the rest of the details at the National Eye Institute, which will also lead you to more helpful resources.
